Seal of Removaljake-upLVT won the 44-player Vintage Challenge 32 on November 5, 2026, finishing 8-1 with Other Lurrus, according to MTGO's published results. The winning build paired Psychic Frog with Night's Whisper and Seal of Removal, neither of which appeared in the 35 other Other Lurrus lists from the preceding 6 weeks.

Orcish BowmastersThe label makes it sound further from established Lurrus decks than its nearest comparison suggests. LarryDavidYo finished fifth at the same event with Lurrus Control, sharing the winner's 4 Psychic Frog, 3 Orcish Bowmasters, 2 Bilbo, Thief in the Night, 2 Thoughtseize and 1 Lotus Petal.

Psychic Frog Leads a Familiar Shell

Psychic FrogThe deck's core is a reactive creature plan: Psychic Frog supplies pressure, backed by 4 Force of Will, 3 Force of Negation and 3 Spell Pierce. TCG Contender's Dimir Lurrus Control guide describes the broader strategy as free interaction and discard supporting Psychic Frog, with fast mana helping deploy threats ahead of schedule.

WastelandThis version also commits to 4 Wasteland and a Strip Mine. Its draw package mixes Ancestral Recall, Treasure Cruise and 2 Lórien Revealed with single copies of Flow State and Night's Whisper. LarryDavidYo instead registered 3 Flow State and a Timetwister, without Night's Whisper.

We see a close relative of Lurrus Control here, rather than an entirely separate strategy. The creature package and much of the interaction match the fifth-place list exactly; Night's Whisper and Seal of Removal are the sharper distinctions among the cards that make this winner unusual.

Night's Whisper and Seal of Removal Stand Apart

Night's WhisperNight's Whisper costs and draws 2 cards for 2 life. It gives this list another direct source of cards alongside Ancestral Recall and Treasure Cruise. Seal of Removal costs and can be sacrificed to bounce a creature, giving the deck a creature-answering option distinct from its 3 Fatal Push.

Undercity SewersAgainst the 35 Other Lurrus peers over the preceding 6 weeks, neither card appeared in another list. Undercity Sewers was also absent from that comparison group, though LarryDavidYo played it in the same event under the Lurrus Control label. The archetype label matters when judging how unusual these choices are.

ThoughtseizeOrcish Bowmasters supplies pressure while punishing opposing extra draws. The 2 Thoughtseize provide proactive hand disruption, each taking one chosen nonland card. Lotus Petal adds a one-shot mana boost. Each appeared in just 2.9% of the Other Lurrus comparison group, but all 3 cards appeared in LarryDavidYo's list at the same counts.

Black LotusThe winner also omitted Mox Ruby, present in 85.7% of its comparison group. Its permanent fast mana instead included Black Lotus, Mox Jet, Mox Pearl and Mox Sapphire, alongside the restricted Lotus Petal.

The Playoff Route Ran Through Shops

jake-upLVT beat fazparte's Initiative 2-1 in the quarterfinal, KurumimBagoRosa's Raker Shops 2-1 in the semifinal and ARAPAKO's Raker Shops 2-1 in the final. All 3 of the winner's playoff matches went to a deciding game.

The broader Other Lurrus playoff record over 6 weeks is 3-0 against Raker Shops, but 3-4 against Jewel Shops. The Lurrus control matches look worse: 0-4 against Esper Lurrus Control and 1-2 against Lurrus Control. These are small top-eight match records, not matchup win-rate estimates.

Null RodThe winning sideboard adds 2 Null Rod to the main-deck copy and includes Annul, Consign to Memory and Abrupt Decay. Compared with LarryDavidYo, jake-upLVT used single copies of Consign to Memory and Mystical Dispute rather than 2 of each, making room for choices including Life from the Loam and Momentum Breaker.

Other Lurrus Has Recurred in Recent Top Eights

Other Lurrus appeared in 7 recent top eights: 2 events on October 11, then October 15, October 17, October 22, October 25 and November 5, 2026. That establishes a recurring label, not 7 appearances by this exact build.

The November 5 top eight also contained Lurrus Control, Lurrus PO and Esper Lurrus Control. The unusual result was this construction winning, rather than Lurrus-named strategies returning to Vintage's playoff tables.
