Selesnya Landfall won consecutive Standard Challenges on November 3 and November 4, 2026, with TheWitchKling finishing 9-1 and indianpancake following at 7-1. MTGO’s November 3 results put TheWitchKling first among 69 players; its November 4 results record indianpancake winning the 30-player event.

The archetype also reached 7.5% of published Standard lists, up from 3.9% in the preceding seven-day window, in the snapshot available on November 6. Those rounded shares and field totals correspond to 19 of 252 lists, against 10 of 254. We rate this as an established deck earning renewed attention, rather than a new configuration breaking through: both winners retained the familiar landfall core.

The Rise Started Before November

The longer calendar-week series starts with 1 Selesnya Landfall list among 64 published decks in the week of September 21, 2026. It fell to 1 of 321 in the week of October 5, then climbed to 9 of 256, or 3.5%, in the week of October 19.

That series records 6 of 254 lists in the week of October 26 and 16 of 156, or 10.3%, in the week of November 2. These calendar-week figures are separate from the rolling seven-day snapshot’s 7.5%. The longer history shows an October recovery followed by a sharper November jump.

The Winning Lists Keep the Same Core

Earthbender AscensionTheWitchKling’s published winning list runs four each of Earthbender Ascension, Fabled Passage, Icetill Explorer, Llanowar Elves, Mossborn Hydra and Sazh's Chocobo. The plan is to accelerate into threats, then use repeated land drops to make them lethal. BaseMTG’s deck guide identifies Fabled Passage and additional land plays as fuel for that plan.

TheWitchKling won the November 3 Standard Challenge 32 with three main-deck Sapling Nursery and four sideboard Clarion Conqueror.

Sapling NurserySapling Nursery is the clearest configuration split between the winners. TheWitchKling played three in the main deck and one in the sideboard, alongside three Mightform Harmonizer. Indianpancake instead played four Mightform Harmonizer, one main-deck Erode and three Sapling Nursery in the sideboard.

Escape TunnelThe mana changed slightly too: indianpancake used two Escape Tunnel and one Elven Passage, against TheWitchKling’s three Escape Tunnel. Both kept three Ba Sing Se and four Doorkeeper Thrull. Those are adjustments around a shared shell: KeepAny7vsYou’s October 20 list already contained the same four-copy creature core and Earthbender Ascension.

The Matchup Results Are Uneven

TheWitchKling’s title run gives the strongest immediate result against Azorius Momo: two consecutive 2-0 playoff wins, after beating Azorius Control 2-1 in the quarterfinal. Indianpancake beat Jeskai Control 2-1 and Dimir Elementals 2-1 on the way to the next title. The deck won through both control and creature-based opposition.

Against the established field, the archetype profile’s small playoff sample records 3-0 against Jund Sacrifice and 2-1 against Azorius Momo, but 1-3 against Dimir Midrange. BaseMTG’s guide also reported a favorable older Jund Sacrifice record of 9-4, while its Dimir Midrange record was 2-3. Jund Sacrifice is the more encouraging pairing; Dimir Midrange remains a drawback.

Team QNO’s November 5 matchup page, using a separate 31-day playoff sample, reports 74-56 across 130 matches, or 57%. Its listed records include 6-7 against Mono-Green Landfall and 6-8 against Izzet Spellementals. The recent losses fit the uneven picture: KeepAny7vsYou lost 0-2 to Mono-Green Landfall on October 27, AttackDDoS lost 1-2 to Dimir Control on October 31, and morris lost 1-2 to Lifegain on November 5.

The Sideboard Changes How You Apply Pressure

Surrak, Elusive HunterBoth winners reserved three sideboard slots for Surrak, Elusive Hunter and three for Sheltered by Ghosts. BaseMTG recommends Surrak, Elusive Hunter against removal-heavy decks and Sheltered by Ghosts for large threats. Against creature decks, Erode supplies interaction: TheWitchKling kept all four copies in the sideboard, while indianpancake split them 1 main and 3 sideboard.

Clarion ConquerorClarion Conqueror is the other substantial commitment, with four copies for TheWitchKling and three for indianpancake. BaseMTG assigns it to opposing artifact and creature abilities. For your own list, the immediate choice is whether to follow TheWitchKling’s main-deck Sapling Nursery package or indianpancake’s fourth Mightform Harmonizer and accessible game-one Erode; both configurations now have a Challenge trophy.
