Who we are
Multiverse Dispatch (multiversedispatch.com) is an independent news site about Magic: The Gathering. For any question about your data, write to us through our Bluesky account or our Facebook Page.
When you read the site
No advertising, no tracking cookie, no third-party analytics.
A visit counter adds one to the day's total of each page you view. On a visit's first page it also notes the site you came from (its domain only) and, when you come from one of our social posts, that link's tags. It keeps no IP address, no cookie, nothing that identifies you or links two visits. Your browser keeps a flag for the session (sessionStorage) so that a visit is counted once; it goes when you close the tab.
A click on a shop's button under a decklist is counted the same way: the shop and the page, nothing else.
Cookies
One cookie, “lang”, if you choose an edition with the EN / FR switch: it keeps your choice for a year. Editors who open the site's admin pages get a second one (“dispatch-editor”) so that the counter leaves them out. Neither is used for advertising or shared.
Comments
When you comment, we keep the name you choose and your text. Against spam, your browser solves a small computation, and we keep a fingerprint of your IP address mixed with the day's date: it tells two commenters apart on that day, and can neither give your address back nor link two days.
Before it shows, a comment is read by an automated moderation model (OpenAI's API), which receives its text and chosen name for that, under OpenAI's API terms. An editor reviews what the model leaves to them. To have one of your comments removed, write to us.
Content from other sites
Card images and set symbols load from Scryfall (cards.scryfall.io, svgs.scryfall.io): your browser asks Scryfall for them, so Scryfall sees your address, as any site does when a page loads one of its images.
Links to shops (some are affiliate links: we may earn a commission, at no cost to you), to social networks and to our sources open those sites, under their own privacy policies.
Our social accounts
We post our pieces on a Facebook Page and a Bluesky account. What you do there falls under Meta's and Bluesky's policies; we only see our posts' public counts (views, reactions, shares).
Hosting
The site and its database run on a server rented from Scaleway, in the European Union. The server keeps no log of your visits.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask what we keep about you, have it corrected or erased (in practice: your comments), and complain to the CNIL (cnil.fr), France's data protection authority. Write to us through our Bluesky account or our Facebook Page.
